I’ve found over the many years I’ve been on this world that even though I’m an optimist with a good sense of humor when I’ve needed a roommate or two to help pay the bills I seem to attract people with problems of different kinds. Without going into detail I will say that some have been psychological while others are behavioral.

Consequently I’ve learned over the years to value and enjoy my own company. There is peace and harmony in my home, I’m never bored and I keep myself in relatively good shape for a retiree. My friends, many of whom I’ve known for years, are always a call or text away and are always supportive.

From what I’ve learned each of us has to learn to be content living within ourselves. If we can’t do that there isn’t any way we’re going to be happy with others.

What a fab knitted (crocheted?) Christmas tree. I have never managed to stick with either of those crafts past learning how to cast on and do the most basic stitch 🎄

Thank you Ros, I really enjoyed reading this. I'm not a person who celebrates Christmas, however your personal experiences of the memories of it, painful and in later years happier were equally valuable to read.

Your suggestions and tips are fantastic, I echo practising being our own saviour everyday, or at least once a week to start off with until we get to everyday. Gift something to ourselves once a week until we get to everyday and it does not have to cost a lot or anything, it could be as you suggested a hot drink or massage our face or hands or write a couple of things down we are proud of ourselves for once a week.

My previous therapist suggested a Joy diary to me,and it was surprising how many things sometimes each day certainly by the end of the week that I wrote down that brought me joy, big and small.

I love the photo of you Ros, so gorgeous!
